After Care

 

General Program and Staff

The After-School Care Program at John I. Smith Elementary School has a variety of activities including homework assistance, indoor and outdoor games, as well as arts and crafts.  All activity leaders receive a minimum of 30 hours training from the Department of Children and Families.  The program manager monitors the program and the activity leaders who have been screened by Miami-Dade County Public Schools.  The principal is ultimately in charge of overseeing the entire program.

Program Components

Mini-Care is offered for our pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade students on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.   This program is especially designed for those children who need to wait for their older brothers or sisters who dismiss 3:00 p.m.

After-School Care is offered for all grade levels from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
