Sunshine State Young Reader's  Program

The Sunshine State Young Reader's Award Program is a statewide reading motivation program for students in grades 3-8. The program, cosponsored by the School Library Media Services Office of the Department of Education and the Florida Association for Media in Education (FAME), began in 1983.  In 2002-2003 there were over 1,100 public schools and 72 non-public schools participating. Over 101,000 students read enough books to qualify for voting in the statewide balloting for their favorite book for the year.
